If the monitors you choose are like the one you pictured with only RCA jacks, then get cables with RCA plugs instead of 1/4'. You can use one Y-cable that has a 1/8' (3.5mm) 3-conductor plug on one end and splits out to 1/4' female jacks. You can always buy an interface later if you need one. With the money you save, maybe you could afford better monitors. Otherwise, if your budget is tight, spend $10-20 on cables instead of $100 and up for an interface plus cables. I would suggest you start without an interface unless you have immediate plans to record external audio.vocals and/or instruments.
The improvement is all in the D/A conversion and the analog signal path outside of the computer. If you were to play your mixes through various interfaces and monitors, it would sound better and better as the price goes up. The interface affects what you hear, but it does not affect the sound inside Reason. If you've got $2-3000 to spend you can get a really great sounding interface When buying interfaces, the sky is the limit. It's becoming more and more common to have high-quality audio in more expensive computers (Macs have always had very good audio quality) so what you have might be good enough. No, you do not need an interface.all you need is cables.Īn interface will probably sound better depending on what's in your computer.
